In operation since 2000, West Texas Mesonet stations located on ranchland, fields and airports in 71 counties covering West Texas, New Mexico and Colorado help operational meteorology, agriculture, research, wind energy and media. Real-time data is released from all stations every five minutes. Six additional boundary layer SODAR units are located in New Mexico and West Texas measuring wind data from near surface up to 1100 feet above ground level every 10 minutes.
